From the time he was very young, Lancer displayed a love for music. He was always singing as a child; even though some of his elementary school teachers did not exactly appreciate the melodies that he would sing. Luckily, his musical talents would be put to good use in high school. There, he would play percussion for his high school's Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. He would also sing in his school's choir. This gave him an opportunity to sing with an Honors Choir at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Jefferey Redding. After high school, he went on to study music at California Baptist University. He has sung in many notable ensembles, including CBU's flagship ensemble, the University Choir and Orchestra. He has also sung with the CBU Camerata; the most advanced choral group at the university. Apart from choral singing, Lancer has sung in CBU's Pop and Commercial Ensembles. He has worked with artists such as Tom Brooks, Emily Benford, J. Michael O'Neal, Nia Allen, Bruce Sledge, Sheila E, Paul Jackson, Jr, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Nathan East.

Lancer's lyrics are inspired by what it means to be alive. For Lancer, life is a roller coaster filled with ups and downs. As such, Lancer tries to write lyrics that emulate that experience. Using his lyrics as a way to tell stories, he hopes that his lyrics will take his listeners on an emotional and spiritual journey. As a believer in Christ, he hopes his music will provide hope to those who need it and will hopefully make people smile.

Lancer's musical style is inspired by many different genres and artists. These artists include the likes of Gorillaz, Pepper Coyote, Foxes and Peppers, Niic, the Helser's, The Beatles, Billie Eilish, and Bryan and Jenn Johnson. Lancer's musical style is also displayed in his voice. He is a versatile vocalist, with both classical and modern roots.
